Research Outline

Leifur's research interests are in the fields of aerodynamics, computational fluid dynamics, multidisciplinary design optimization, surrogate-based optimization, and engineering design of unmanned vehicles. Current research projects include aero/hydrodynamic optimization of streamlined surfaces, such as airfoils, wings, turbine blades, and underwater vehicles, as well as the development of unmanned vehicle systems, such as flapping-wing micro air vehicles, small unmanned meteorological observer (SUMO) aircraft, and autonomous unmanned underwater vehicles (see http://luv.ru.is/).
